One of the four loop trails at Tsali Recreation Area
Longest Tsali trail, single track, creek crossings, view of the Smokies and Lake Fontana at the overlook.
Directions: From Bryson City, take U.S. 19 S. 9 miles, turn right on NC 28 for 5.5 miles. Turn right at the sign for Tsali Recreation Area on FR 521 (gravel) for 1.5 miles.

Mouse Branch
Nantahala National Forest
Length: 6.5 miles Rating: Strenuous
One of the four loop trails at Tsali Recreation Area
Single track and old logging roads, potential views of wild turkey, deer, and grouse in forest wildlife opening, old home sites.
Directions: From Bryson City, take U.S. 19 S. 9 miles, turn right on NC 28 for 5.5 miles. Turn right at the sign for Tsali Recreation Area on FR 521 (gravel) for 1.5 miles.

Tsali Trails
Nantahala National Forest
Length: 39.0 miles Rating: Strenuous
Challenging - that's the best word to describe the 39 miles of Tsali Trails, rated as "more difficult".
Suited for hikers. mountain bikers, and horseback riders, the 4 - loop system offers a variety of landscapes. Hikers may travel the trails on any day, but mountain bikers and equestrians, the primary users, are kept separated by alternating use of the trails. A schedule is posted at all trailheads.
The Four Loops are: Right Loop, Left Loop, Mouse Branch, Thompson Loop.
Directions: From Bryson City, take U.S. 19 S. 9 miles, turn right on NC 28 for 5.5 miles. Turn right at the sign for Tsali Recreation Area on FR 521 (gravel) for 1.5 miles.
